Scooting back and forth between some degree of realism and whatever the opposite is... then pulling back to some comfortable place in the middle... but where's the golden zone of creative fecundity?

The second one was a bit spur of the moment. I'm still trying to get at something in some way, feeling my way there. I always say that but it's true.
I didn't want them just to be ugly, I want to get some of the nice things about people into them.
You caricature very well. I especially like the ones with the big eyes.
Was Mr. Liquor (American!) an influence there?
