I enjoy the fact that this is not a southern European, masculine minotaur, with hard eyes and snarling lips, but more of an English Minotaur, with all the power of a half-ton animal, but with the doe eyed simplicity and sad face of a cow.
I think it captures something I've seen in wrestlers faces too, the look of simplicity which belies hostile intent. They are not sharp and cunning like a fox or a rat, but dumb and soft headed like a cow. They look like they'd rather give you a hug than a bodyslam.
I love your work. Is that oil paint?
ReplyDeleteYes it is. In the first one.
ReplyDeleteObviously the others are drawings.
ReplyDeleteI could make oil paintings painstakingly photorealistically look like drawings, but that would be weird.
Maybe a little weird.
ReplyDeleteAns as artists, the last thing we want to be is weird.
Oh,,ho,,ho,,ho,,ho...ohhhh..."Woolly Bullies"...no word to decribe a piece of art like that...my heart pounded.
ReplyDeleteA simple love it!
you amazed me onec more...
